ORLANDO, Fla. — The latest data from the Florida Department of Health shows there have been more than 7 million cases of COVID-19 statewide.

But if you haven’t gotten it yet, you may be what doctors are calling a “super-dodger.”

Some doctors chalk it up to luck, but others say it’s in your genes.

Your DNA may have a protein that doesn’t allow the virus to infect the cell.

“In some instances, we found that it does infect the cell, but it isn’t able to replicate the way that it normally would,” said Dr. Joseph Allen. “And so, you don’t get any symptoms.”

Researchers are now looking into whether a super-dodger’s genes can be used to make some type of treatment to help others from getting sick.
