FDOT said installation is underway for wrong-way vehicle detection systems on direct connect ramps.

Those systems will flash lights and alert FDOT traffic managers and law enforcement so they can track down that wrong-way driver.

Installation for those wrong-way systems take several months. FDOT is hoping to have some online by the end of the year.

In the first month, FDOT collected more than $1.4 million in revenue from the express lanes.

The current rate is still the introductory price of 50 cents per tolling segment. It’s unclear when the department will switch to a dynamic tolling system.
