Prosecutors question woman on trial for stabbing husband to death

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The trial for a woman accused of killing her husband in their Winter Park home continued Wednesday.

Danielle Redlick testified for a second straight day Wednesday as the state got its turn to question her about what happened the day her husband, Michael, was killed.

Redlick hasn’t denied that she stabbed her husband to death in their home in 2019. Redlick claims she was in fear for her life and acted in self-defense.

The state pushed Redlick Wednesday on the 11 hours they say she waited before calling 911 to report the stabbing.

During cross examination, prosecutor Sean Wiggins argued Redlick had ample opportunity to make the call, but chose not to until she needed help herself.

Wiggins argued Redlick only called 911 after she had slit her own wrists.

“Miss Redlick, you slit your wrist because you didn’t want to be in that chair answering for what you’re having to answer for today, isn’t that true,” Wiggins asked.

“There were a lot of things going through my mind,” Redlick responded.

On Tuesday, Redlick told the jury that after she stabbed Michael she ran to the bathroom because she thought he was still chasing her. She says she didn’t think the stab wound would kill him.

When she finally came out of the bathroom, she said she started cleaning up the blood out of what she called shock and nervousness.

She said she cried next to her husband after, then she fell asleep next to him.

Redlick explained that she contemplated suicide and even googled “how to slit your wrists” after realizing that Michael was dead.

Redlick is charged with second-degree murder and tampering with evidence. If convicted, she could be sentenced to life in prison.
