Osceola County residents flooded by Ian fear more damage from Nicole

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Osceola County leaders are keeping a close eye on Tropical Storm Nicole.

The main concern is over flooding that impacted communities, including the Good Samaritan Village.

Dozens of people in the 55-and-over community were forced to evacuate after historic flooding from Hurricane Ian.

Channel 9 was in the Good Samaritan Village after Ian and saw residents stuck in flooded homes.

“We’ve really been working with the county over the last three years to make sure we can prepare as much as possible,” said Good Samaritan Village’s vice president of operations Aimee Middleton.

Officials said 179 independent living units are currently in need of repairs, along with 69 mobile home units that are severely damaged.

Former Good Samaritan Village resident Ray Rodriguez said people are frustrated after what he believes was a promise of safety following flooding from Ian.
