Ocala basketball coach accused of having sex with 2 additional minors

OCALA, Fla. — Two more people have come forward claiming a well-known Marion County basketball coach had sex with them as children.

The accusations came about a week after Channel 9 reported on Roosevelt Overstreet ,46, being accused of filming himself having sex with a minor.

Investigators said Overstreet worked as a basketball coach and trainer, and also for the city of Ocala’s recreation department.

Prior to that, his application with the city of Ocala showed he worked for the Boys and Girls Club of Marion County for about nine years. And one of the women who came forward since Overstreet’s initial arrest told police he took her there and had sex with her in the employee lounge when she was a teenager.

The woman told police Overstreet started having sex with her when she was in middle school.

The other woman who came forward said she mothered Overstreet’s child when she was still a minor.

“So we had a victim come forward yesterday make a report that she bared a child with Overstreet when she got pregnant when she was 15, and gave birth when she was 16,” Det. Denise Drake with the Ocala Police Department said.

Drake said Overstreet met that victim when he was a basketball coach at Vanguard High School and she was a student. That was more than two decades ago, and investigators said there is DNA evidence showing Overstreet is the father.

“We’re asking that if anyone else knows of someone or them themselves have been victimized by him to come forward and make a report,” Drake said.

The Boys and Girls Club said Overstreet hasn’t been affiliated with the club since 2017.

The CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Marion County released the following statement to WFTV:

Boys & Girls Club of Marion County has learned new information regarding allegations of inappropriate behavior by a former employee, who has not been associated with our organization since 2017.  We remain both shocked and deeply saddened by these allegations as crimes of abuse run counter to everything we stand for – no harm should come to any child under any circumstance. Our hearts are with the victim and their family.

Boys & Girls Club of Marion County are committed to the highest standards of ethical behavior and integrity and do not tolerate inappropriate or illegal activity on the part of any staff member, volunteer, or youth member. All employees must undergo a thorough criminal background check prior to hire and annually, and all supervisory procedures are designed to ensure the maximum safety and protection of Club members and staff.
