DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Many businesses in Volusia County are still recovering from the destruction of the last hurricane season.
The coast is welcoming visitors for the 49th annual Turkey Run, a classic car show and swap meet at the Daytona International Speedway.
Evelyn Hone is an 83-year-old New Yorker enjoying the Turkey Run for the first time.
“This is the best Thanksgiving I’ve ever had,” Hone said. “My kids are all up north eating while I’m here having a good time.”
The classic car show features almost every make and model of car imaginable.
Adrian Hanne and his son Samuel are visiting from the Bahamas.
“It’s amazing,” Hanne said. “There’s so many. Just to look at them, it’s like watching a tennis match. You don’t know where to look. There’s so much good stuff out here.”
The event draws people from all over the world. It’s a big boost to the hotels and restaurants in the area that are still trying to recover from Hurricanes Ian and Nicole.
The Turkey Run continues through Sunday.
