Central Florida residents get ready for Black Friday shopping this year

ORLANDO, Fla. — It’s almost time before we see just how many people will camp out and line up for the deals on Black Friday.

Parking spots were empty at a parking lot for an Orlando shopping center on Thanksgiving Day.

When Channel 9 spoke to some shoppers who were trying to get into the closed stores, they said the steals and deals were not a top priority.

“If I had more cash, I’d be a little more into it,” Jack Fullerton said.

This holiday season, the swipes of credit cards and clink of coins are expected to increase, but the hype of Black Friday shopping does not appeal to everyone.

Fullerton said that because of what has happened this year, he’s thankful for life and not worried about buying items.

Millions of people are expected to take the opportunity to grab a good sale on Friday.

Analysts said that because of the pandemic, consumers bought a lot of laptops and home office equipment, and discounts on those items will be high.

Retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, Macy’s and Target have had Black Friday deals since the beginning of November.

Most participating stores will open at 5 a.m., including Best Buy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, JC Penny and Walmart. Old Navy will open at midnight.

More than 166 million people are expected to shop this weekend leading into Monday.
