Walt Disney World announces final day for Splash Mountain ride before redesign

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Walt Disney World has confirmed the last day for its Splash Mountain ride.

Park leaders announced the last day that riders can experience Splash Mountain will be Jan. 22.

Disney will then start work on a theme redesign called “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure,” based on the Disney animated film “The Princess and the Frog.”

Splash Mountain opened at Magic Kingdom in 1992 and is based on the 1946 Disney film “Song of the South.”

Disney said the redesigned attraction will feature “Princess Tiana and jazz-loving alligator Louis during Mardi Gras season as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind celebration for the people of New Orleans.”

Park officials said “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure!” should open in 2024.
